Then he says "Born In the USA" is anti-American because of a lyric about being drafted and sent to vietnam to kill people. Hm.

@Tim - it's definiting not a cooling issue. There's multiple fans + we never closed the box up - it was totally open, which is how I saw the spark. Dave, my hardware friend came over to look at it ("sometimes sparks aren't bad")and said it was just a bad card & bad luck. Sending it back today. Sigh.

Sounds like heat/cooling problems?
You always hear how they design the new cases to make the air flow cool the PC, so maybe your parts just needed more cooling than what they got in the ghetto modded case? You get a modern video card, a newish (last 5 years) CPU, and one or more HDDs and it can turn into a lot of heat. I haven't built a PC in ages, but you may need more than just the heat sink/fan on the CPU. Anyhow -- that sucks! Hopefully some of the parts are salvagable.

Yeah, I didn't really pay attention. I was installing 4 new memory cards and was more focused on how stupid the machine was configured & how difficult it was to maneuver to get the memory in place.

However, not sure how or why I would be a con. Seems like a lot to have to go through to get someone to reimburse me for my motherboard. There's got to be a better way to con a company than that.

I completely agree with you. The Governor should be MORE careful about following the laws (ESPECIALLY w/r/t paying taxes) than anyone else.

In most (civilized) places, you have to get a permit to put up a new structure, so the town/county/whatever automatically knows that you're doing it, and will take it upon themselves to send a tax assessor around.

Obviously Palin thought she could (should?) get away with cheating becase a) how would anyone find out? and b) She's the governor, who would dare question her?

@Bean - I'm afraid it's not a joke. It actually crosses the line from hysterically funny to scary if you realize that. Check out the website it's posted on and you'll see that they are totally serious.

The good news is that people who believe this kinda crap are a small minority - it's just that the internet gives them a voice where we can all hear their nutty outlook. And of course, it gives them a way to find the other nuts who think the way that they do.

While it's amusing, I think we need to be aware that these people are out there.
