Avenue Q

Went to see Avenue Q at the Paramount Theatre last night and my recommendation is to go buy your tickets now before it leaves Seattle.

How can you not love a show that features songs with titles like:

It Sucks to Be Me

The Internet is for Porn

Everyone's a Little Bit Racist

I'm Not Wearing Underwear Today

...

plus explicit puppet sex? Seriously, this was irreverent and rude and totally fun. I walked away with a big ole smile on my face. Gee...it's hard to believe they have a big disclaimer about how this is not associated in any possible way with Sesame Street. Teehee.

The actors/puppeteers are pretty amazing - they perform several roles - sometimes within the same song. I see a lot of shows with talented performers, but this really required a different kind of actor - their body and facial  language mimics what the puppet is experiencing, so that it doesn't matter which one of them you're watching.

Run, don't walk to the Paramount. It's there through June 22.
