(unless of course you do...) From Yahoo:
New York's governor declared a disaster in Oswego County, where five straight days of lake-effect squalls have dumped nearly 100 inches of snow, and even more snow was forecast through the weekend.
"You know, it was neat when it started because we hadn't gotten any
snow in December or January," Bateman added. "It's getting old now."

That (well, not *exactly* that) was how it was here a couple of years ago. They were going on and on about the light snowfall, and how if we didn't get snowpack there would be wildfires in the summer, and the reservoir and lake levels were down, emergency emergency, and then all of a sudden all of the precipitation came at once, and there were avalanches and landslides and everyone was going on about floods and the lake overflowing emergency emergency. People should make up their minds (or perhaps learn a lesson on the value of moderation).
I live in Buffalo, relatively near Oswego. We weren't hit quite as badly, but they actually ended up with 12 feet of snow in 11 days. Yes, schools and businesses are closed, people can't get out of their own driveways, and crossing a parking lot is like hiking across the tundra... but we have GREAT snowmen.
