What the hell happened to Gwen Stefani?

Okay, I have never been a real fan of hers (disclaimer: I did like the remake she did of some old Talk Talk song. Whatever.), but seriously....

Okay. She started off with No Doubt, a SoCal pop-punk band. I understand that pop preceeds punk in the previous sentence. That was obvious from their music. But so was a bit of the whole punk attitude. And I appreciated it. I like it when bands have 'tude.
But look at this No Doubt holiday picture. We're playing with sexuality here, we're a little grumpy (okay, that's her ex-boyfriend who has the grumpy face, but you get the point) and there's even a mohawk making an appearance. You thought she might punch someone in the face or something. In my book, that's interesting.
So she was on Saturday Night Live tonight. I give her props cause she was backed by a rhythm section only (I have a thing for rhythm sections). However, there were also backing tracks! (and they were playing the "Lonely Goatherd" song from the Sound of Music.) But I digress. Backing tracks? That's for dance "artists". (big emphasis on the quotes. Actually, if you can envision air quotes around the word artists in that sentence, I think that gives you more of an idea of what I'm going for here.) (Apparently, I'm going for the post with the most parentheses in the land.)
Nowadays, she's this pop/dance/fashionista chick. She's busy selling her perfume and her handbags and her clothing line... she's dancing it up like Christina Aguilera, Britney "give them the money shot" Spears (I have no idea how to spell these chick's names, so be forwarned). She sure strikes me as a big ole sell out. But that's not what really bothers me.
What bugs me is that she used to be interesting. It's not the look really, I'm just insulted by the move from (pop)/punk to dance/pop. Does anyone need money that badly?
FYI - I have no idea what I'm talking about here. I know virtually nothing about the whole pop scene cause it disgusts me. Phooey. Feh.
